Possible small tornado in Thunderbolt of Chatham county
Observer at east Victory drive in Thunderbolt reports of a heavy thunderstorm beginning around 2:40 PM with medium size hail beginning to fall around 2:45 PM. Mostly dime size hail but some the size of golf balls. Gusty winds at the time. The hail was intermittent for about 15 minutes . Around 3:00 PM the wind increased to very high velocity and several trees reported broken and large branches flying in the air. A window in her second floor room was blown in and heavy rain poured inside completely soaking bedding. A large sign mounted on a concrete post near Bill Hilliard restaurant was bent by an angle of about 20 degrees.

Another resident (Phyllis Hardeman) reported 1.47 inches of rain in Thunderbolt while a few miles south-southwest at Waters and Jackson Street, Jeannette Mereski measured 1.45 inches and much cloud to ground lightning strikes with very loud thunder.
